Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of pulsed radiofrequency in the temporomandibular joint cavity on treating temporomandibular arthritis. Methods: Fifty patients diagnosed as temporomandibular arthritis in the hospital were included from March 2016 to December 2016. The patients were randomly divided into two groups, 25 patients in treatment group and 25 patients in control group. Patients in treatment group were treated with pulsed radiofrequency in the temporomandibular joint cavity while patients in control group were treated with the injection of triamcinolone acetonide in the temporomandibular joint cavity. The curative effect of two groups after the treatment was compared. Results: The VAS score and maximum mouth opening showed insignificant difference between the two groups. Conclusion: The pulsed radiofrequency in the temporomandibular joint cavity is effective clinically with fewer complications and shows higher security.
