Abstract: Objective: To investigate the endodontic diseases of the elderly in our hospital, and to provide reference for future prevention. Methods: From August 2016 to August 2018, the patients aged 60 and over 60 who visited our hospital for endodontic diseases were classified and analyzed statistically. Results: Pulpitis, apical periodontitis, tooth defect, and dental caries were the top four category diseases, in which the incidence of pulpitis and apical periodontitis was close. As the main cause of pulpitis and apical periodontitis, the prevalence of dental caries was much lower than the former. Elderly patients accounted for 12% of the total annual patients, 28% of which were hypertension and diabetes. Conclusion: The awareness of diseases prevention in the elderly patients is poor. The patients more often seek medical advice after pain occurs. In the future, the preventive education of oral diseases among the elderly should be strengthened, with aim to reduce physical pain and economic losses.
