Abstract: Objective: To investigate the application of molar retractor in the correction of bilateral impacted mandibular second molars and observe the clinical effects. Methods: The case group consisted 5 patients with bilateral impacted mandibular molars. All mandibular third molars had been extracted before treatment. Molar retractors were manufactured and used in these patients. The clinical effects were observed and evaluated. Results: All the impacted second molars had been corrected successfully. The average period of treatment was 7 months. The mean change value of the inclination of the right mandibular impacted molars was 49.60° and that of the left mandibular impacted molars was 45.40°. Conclusion: Molar retractor effectively corrected the bilateral impacted mandibular second molars and could enable orthodontist to upright the impacted molars rapidly.
