Abstract: Objective: To evaluate the effect of combined endodontic microsurgery and periodontic management in treating palatal radicular groove. Methods: 11 teeth diagnosed as combined periodontal-endodontic lesion with palatal radicular grooves were collected. They were treated with root canal treatment under microscope and then combined endodontic microsurgery and periodontal management. Before surgery, 6 months, and one year follow-up after surgery, periodontal probing depth (PD), sulcus bleeding index(SBI), tooth mobility(TM) were measured. The data were statistically analyzed. The results of periapical lesion healing were evaluated by clinical and X-ray examination. Results: PD, SBI, and TM were significantly lowered 6 months and 1 year after surgery than before (P<0.05). The success rate at 6 months follow-up after surgery was 81.82%.The success rate at 1 year after operation was 90.91%. Conclusion: The combination of endodontic microsurgery and periodontal treatment is practical treatment modality in treating combined endodontic-periodontal lesions caused by palatal radicular groove.
