Effect of Orthodontic Treatment on Delayed Polydonia in Rare Molar Area: A Case Report

摘要: 迟发性多生牙(late-developing supernumerary tooth,LDST)指晚于恒牙发育的额外牙,临床少见且多发于前磨牙区。本文报道1例罕见的下颌磨牙区LDST病例,该牙胚在正畸结束后被发现,通过1年随访及影像学分析,发现正畸力可能通过改变局部生物力学环境影响其发育。研究结合骨改建机制和临床观察,提出对可疑病例应加强影像学监测,并根据牙胚位置、发育阶段采取个体化处理方案。

Abstract: Late-developing supernumerary teeth (LDST) refer to extra teeth that develop later than permanent teeth. They are rare in clinical practice and often occur in the premolars area. This article reports a rare case of LDST in the mandibular molar area. The tooth embryo was discovered after orthodontic treatment. Through one-year follow-up and imaging analysis, it was found that orthodontic force might affect its development by altering the local biomechanical environment. This study combines the mechanism of bone remodeling and clinical observation, and proposes that imaging monitoring should be strengthened for suspected cases, and individualized treatment plans should be adopted according to the position and development stage of the tooth germ.
