Abstract: Implant dentures have become the best method to repair teeth defect and tooth loss in adult patients. For patients with head and neck cancer, surgical excision combined with radiotherapy and chemotherapy is usually required. However, local radiotherapy may cause some damage to the quality and quantity of jaw tissue, which may indirectly affect the osseointegration of the implant. In this paper, the effects of radiotherapy on bone tissue and osseointegration around the implant are reviewed.
