Abstract: Objective: To investigate the feasibility and efficacy of coronally advanced flap(CAF) and laterally positioned flap in the treatment of labiobuccal residual wounds after the epulis resection. Methods: 24 cases were selected from epulis patients. After epulis resection and local scaling and alveoloplasty, the patients were dealed with the labiobuccal wound by coronally advanced flap(CAF) and laterally positioned flap according to the condition of gingival defects. Results: There were no recurrence during the 3-6 months follow up period. Postoperative gum color and shape was ideal, but only 6 cases with thin gingiva biotype showed mild gum recession, alveolar bone absorption or black triangle. Conclusion: Using of coronally advanced flap(CAF) and laterally positioned flap in excision of epulis could get better gingival recover and esthetic results. The prognosis of thin gingiva biotype was a little worse and prone to gum recession.
