Abstract: Objective: To explore the acoustic characteristics of glottic system and acoustic cavity system of the patients with velopharyngeal insufficiency in Uyghur language, and to evaluate the function of palatopharyngeal closure. Methods: Fifty cases of velopharyngeal insufficiency patients after cleft palate surgery and 50 normal children were read assessment of plosive consonant test and recorded the voice, using Praat analysis software to collect the formant parameters F1, F2, F3 and acoustic parameters Shimmer, Jitter, HN.Statistically analysis was conducted between two groups. Results: Uyghur patient with velopharyngeal insufficiency consonants /d /, /q/, /g/, /k/, /t/ resonance peak difference were statistically significance (P<0.05).Acoustic parameters Shimmer, Jitter, and HNR value’s difference showed statistically significance (P<0.05).Conclusion: The formant parameters F1, F2 and F3 provide basic evidence of the speech therapy for Uyghur patient with velopharyngeal insufficiency.Acoustic parameters Shimmer, Jitter, and HNR can be effective as an acoustic index for evaluating the palatopharyngeal closure function.
