Abstract: Objective: To investigate the transverse facial cleft repair with symmetric triangular flap and reconstruction of orbicular muscles of mouth. Methods: The clinical data of 12 patients with transverse facial cleft repaired with symmetric triangular flap and reconstruction of orbicular muscles of mouth from 2013 to 2016 were collected and retrospectively analyzed. Results: All patients were followed up regularly ranging from 6 months to 3 years and all of them got the static and dynamic symmetry of oral commissure. The preoperative and postoperative indicators showed that symmetry of commissural had been well restored. One case followed up 3 years, asymmetries of form and functional activity of oral commissure was observed. Conclusion: Application of symmetric triangular flap and reconstruction of orbiculary muscles can enhance the morphology of oral commissure and contribute to functional recovering and obtain the long-term improvement of symptoms.
