Abstract: Objective: To compare the effects of new oral bioceramic material iRoot BP Plus and mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) on LPS-induced bone destruction in mice. Methods: 24 BABL/C mice were randomly equally divided into four groups injected by 10 mg/kg LPS with or without the material extracts or culture medium alone once a day. After treatment for 7 days, mice were sacrificed and calvarias were detected by micro-computed tomography scanning, histologic analysis and double immunofluorescence staining. Results: iRoot BP Plus and MTA significantly alleviated bone destruction in mice calvarias, inhibited the formation and resorption capacity of osteoclasts, and markedly downregulated the expression level of osteoclastogenic cathepsin K. Conclusion: iRoot BP Plus had inhibitory effects on inflammatory bone destruction in mice.
