Abstract: Through preventive, interventional, and corrective measures, early treatment can guide normal dentofacial development of children and reduce the occurrence rate and severity of malocclusions. It is therefore beneficial for children's physical and mental health. Clinicians need to grasp the concept of "airway-informed orthodontics diagnosis and treatment" and eliminate the causes of malocclusion as early as possible. To develop the best treatment plan, clinicians should take into account children's growth, severity of malocclusion, the effectiveness and efficiency of orthodontic treatment, as well as relevant psychosocial factors.

Key words: early treatment, malocclusion, deleterious oral habits, mouth breathing
