Abstract: Objective: To investigate the effect of nano-CeO2 modified by stearic acid on mechanical properties of denture resin base. Methods: Modified nanoparticles were added in the monomer of denture base materials (PMMA) at the ratios of 0%, 1%, 2%, 3%, 4% and 5% (m:m). Standard specimens were prepared. Impact strength and bending strength were detected in each group. Results: The addition of modified nano-CeO2 improved the mechanical properties of resin denture base. The best combination property was obtained at the ratio of 3%. The impact strength, flexural strength and flexural modulus were (4.186 ± 0.149) J/cm2, (88.865 ± 2.345) MPa, and (1.539 ± 0.096 ) GPa, respectively (P<0.05). Conclusion: The addition of modified nano-CeO2 can improve the mechanical properties of denture resin base.
