Abstract: Objective: To evaluate the clinical restoration effects of indirect composite resin onlay in posterior residual crown. Methods: A total of 68 proximal-occlusal defections were restored with direct HRi composite and indirect HRi composite onlay. All restorations were evaluated by two examiners at 6 months , 24 months and 36months after placement. Statistical analysis was conducted using chi-square test at a significance level of 5%. Results: There were no significant differences between two methods on each evaluation item at 6months. Most of the items had no significant difference except the proximal contact (P<0.05) at 24 months. However, There were obvious differences in the marginal adaption , proximal contact and periodontic condition between two methods at 36 months (P<0.05). Conclusion: The indirect composite resin onlay restoration showed better clinical restoration effects than the direct composite restoration and could meet different patients needs.
