Abstract: The prevalence of dental erosion has been increasing steadily over the past decades. The relevant risk factors, treatment, and preventive strategy of dental erosion have therefore attracted attentions from the dental researchers and practitioners. Currently, the experimental models of dental erosion, including in vivo, in situ, and in vitro protocols, have been introduced with their own advantages and disadvantages. The aim of this article was to review the three types of dental erosion models and the factors involved in designing the relative experiment.
