Abstract: Objective: To investigate the effect of resolvin D1 (RvD1) on periodontitis in rat. Methods: The models of periodontitis were established in eighteen rats, which were randomly divided into 3 groups, experimental group A (100ng/ml RvD1), experimental group B (50ng/ml RvD1), and control group C (saline). Intervention was provided by systemic injection from the tail vein. Clinical parameters and morphological analysis were measured at different time intervals after treatment. All statistical analysis was performed using the SPSS 21.0 statistical package. Results: After 1 week of treatment, periodontal pocket depth (PD), gingival index (GI), tooth mobility (TM), and alveolar bone loss (ABL) in experimental group A (100ng/ml RvD1) were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). For experimental group B (50ng/ml RvD1), only GI and TM showed statistical significance when compared with control group (P<0.05). PD in both experimental groups was similar. Conclusion: RvD1 might be used to prevent alveolar bone resorption in periodontitis.
