Abstract: Objective: To study the methods and clinical effects of Abbe flap with vascular pedicle repairing the secondary defects of the bilateral cleft lip. Methods: Ten patients with the secondary defects of the bilateral cleft lip were selected. They were corrected using Abbe flap with vascular pedicle by the same surgeon. Six indexes of the nasal labial ministry before and after surgery were measured, the nasolabial symmetry was compared, and the clinical effects were assessed. Results: The patients all achieved primary healing after surgery. The length of the philtrum increased 3.93 mm averagely, and the width of the philtrum decreased 3.93 mm averagely after surgery. The width of nose decreased 1.69 mm averagely, and the symmetry rate of the lip got 97.29% postoperatively. The patients all got good recovery after surgery. Conclusion: The Abbe flap with vascular pedicle can significantly improve the nasolabial shape and symmetry to correct the secondary defects of the bilateral cleft lip.
