Abstract: Objective: To investigate the expression and distribution of CXCR7 in periodontitis and the role of SDF-1/CXCR7 biological axis in periodontitis. Methods: Immunohistochemical method and PCR were used to detect the expression of SDF-1, CXCR4, and CXCR7 in 15 normal gingival tissues and 15 periodontitis tissues. Results: The expressions of SDF-1, CXCR4, and CXCR7 in periodontitis tissues were higher than those in normal gingival tissues (P<0.05). There was a positive correlation between SDF-1 and CXCR7 (γ=0.533, P=0.041), and between CXCR4 and CXCR7 (γ=0.533, P=0.033,P<0.01). CXCR7 was expressed in inflammatory cells of periodontitis and vascular endothelial cells associated with inflammation. Conclusion: The overexpression of CXCR7 in the microenvironment of periodontitis may play a role in the pathological process of periodontitis, which may be a new target for the treatment of periodontitis.
