Abstract: Objective: To study the influence of Er:YAG laser-activated post space irrigation on fiber post microleakage. Methods: A total of 30 extracted upper incisors with similar size and shape were randomly divided in 3 groups. After conventional root canal treatment and post space preparation, three kinds of irrigation (sodium chloride solution, 2.5% sodium hypochlorite, and Er:YAG laser with 2.5% sodium hypochlorite) were applied to the post space. After sticking fiber post with bond, the specimens were cut out 6 mm from cement-enamel junction. The degree of microleakage was measured by Glucose oxidase-peroxidase (GOD-POD) method. Results: The microleakage degrees of sodium chloride solution, 2.5% sodium hypochlorite, and Er:YAG laser with 2.5% sodium hypochlorite were (0.941±0.096) mmol/L, (0.911±0.075) mmol/L, and (0.889±0.102) mmol/L, respectively (P<0.05). Conclusion: Er:YAG laser-activated post space irrigation can reduce the microleakage of fiber post.
