Abstract: Objective: To assess the mathematical match virtual prostheses reconstructed by the modes of mirror-image (MI),biogenericreconstruction (BR), and wax-ups (WU) on the original upper anterior tooth morphology. Methods: Twenty intact upper anterior teethwere included. Preparations of all ceramic crowns were performed on the gypsum model and scannedbefore and afterpreparations. The virtual prostheses were formed by the MI, BR, and WU as well as the original teeth (CEREC software v4.0). Discrepancies were evaluated by matching the scans with the original morphologies using the parameters of three-dimensional distance (3-DD) and rate of volume change(RVC)(Geomagic Qualifyv7.0, USA). Datawere analyzed by one-way ANOVA and rank sum test. Results: 3-DD differences of MI and BR were significantly less than those of WU (P<0.05), but there was nosignificant difference between MI and BR. There were significant differences in RVC between MI and BR as well as WU (P<0.05), but no significant differences were found between BR and WU. Conclusion: The MI model enables a closer reconstruction of upper anterior teeth than BR and WU.
