Abstract: Objective: To investigate the effect of periodontal basic treatment on peripheral blood levels of OPN and IL-17 in oral lichen planus (OLP) patients. Methods: Sixty OLP with periodontitis in the second affiliated hospital of Harbin medical university were randomly divided into two groups. The experimental group (30 cases) received periodontal treatment combined with medications and the control group (30 cases) received drug therapy only. The serum levels of OPN and IL-17 were determined before and after periodontal treatment by ELISA. Results: The serum levels of OPN and IL-17 after treatment were significantly lower than those before treatment in two groups. The experimental group showed significantly lower OPN and IL-17 levels than the control group after treatment. Conclusion: Periodontal basic treatment was beneficial to the OLP therapy.
