Abstract: Dental implant technology is widely used for the patients with defected dentitions to repair their missing teeth. Osseointegration between implant and alveolar bone is the key factor to the success of implant surgery. The biphasic calcium phosphate (BCP), a bioceramic material, can be used not only as bone substitute material for the bone augmentation program around the dental implant, but also as coating material for implant surface to promote osseointegration. BCP ceramics is widely used in clinical medicine, which has outstanding properties: biocompatibility, bioactivity, stability, biodegradability, osteoconductivity, and potential osteoinductive. This paper reviews the application and research survey of BCP ceramics in dental implant, with hope to provide some beneficial references for the clinical application of BCP ceramics in this field.
